Is there Really No of Course?
It was a shock for me that one of my doctors said "There is no of course!" or maybe she said "There is no of course in science!" To be honest, this statement stuck straight in my mind, but is it really true?!
It is difficult, actually, to decide whether this statement is wrong or right because that leads me to think of another statement of somebody else which is "There is nothing exactly right in this world!" Hearing this and that, creates another question which is: Is there a fault in reality? Is the reality quite foggy, so that nobody can decide what is wrong and what is right? Why does the one, who thinks that way, want to make the clear truths so unclear?
However, I agree that there are some theories in science which can be questionable like Big Bang Theory, and Darwin's Theory Of Evolution, as examples. In contrast, there are facts in science in which we cannot say something about their certainty. For instance, being the earth globate, the moon reflects the sunlight while the sun produces light, and after 4 C° the water starts to expand after shrinking… etc. Therefore, we can say there is "of course" in science.
In my opinion, I don't think there is a reason of being me doubt about a reality that is clear and accepted by many people, if not most. Even though, not necessarily the more people who agree on something the more true or right this something is! This is a philosophical concept, nonetheless. Although I'm not a philosophy student, but as far as I know, philosophy doesn't give you a certain answer (i.e. the sentence could be valid or invalid, or sometimes not a valid nor an invalid!) So, you may end up with no answer, after all!
For me, I still like to look at things as they appear to me: real, pure, not fake, yet not influenced by what others think of it, nor ruined by those who are skeptical even about their existence! Funnily, I heard of an American philosopher who wrote almost 200 pages to answer the question "Am I existing?" At the end of his book, he didn't give an answer for that question! Which means that what he wrote was nonsense! Therefore, I think this kind of people are just lost in this world, and want to confuse people with their meaningless ideas. So why don't we look at life as purely as it appears? Why do we always like to complicate things? Therefore, I guess we need the simplicity more if the complication is going to lead us to the insaneness! This is my point of view, however.
Anyway, perhaps I'm a great admirer of my teacher, but I do not criticize her, of course, when I wrote this article because I'm pretty sure that she has a point by saying that statement, but most probably is that the meaning I got is quite different from what she actually meant. To be frank, I still think of that statement very often since she said it until now. And the most funny thing about this is that I became think of it even while I'm asleep! Indeed, I dreamt of my teacher that she gave me a piece of paper and ordered me to write down on it without specifying a particular thing to write about. Therefore, I immediately wrote down "Is there really no of course in this world? Or at least in science?!"
In conclusion, I just wonder if my teacher reads me now, so that she would answer my question. Otherwise, the too much thinking of this matter may lead me to ask another question: "Am I really existing?!!"
